New features for Evo

Ever since we launched our first converted car we always made ourselves a promise - to keep looking for ways to improve them and to refine the designs to make them easier and better for the owners.

With Wav-Evolution we knew what we had created was very special, but still the same theory applied - the more people we see and the more chairs we try, the more feedback and ideas we get. This has been the same from the start, and has enabled us to keep improving the vehicle and conversion.

Some while ago we introduced the option of an electricly deployable ramp so that the assistant doesn't have to bend down to deploy and stow the ramp. This has proven extremely popular to the extent that more and more feedback has allowed us to improve the design further.

Previously based on a belt drive mechanism, we have now changed to a toothed version so that the ramp is both smoother to operate and more powerful. It also ensures that with no belt to slip off in a worse case scenario, the ramp is much more dependable.

Thinking further, we also wanted to ensure that in the even of a total power failure, the wheelchair user wasn't stranded in the vehicle unable to depoly the ramp. As such, each vehicle now comes as standard with an emergency ramp pack. These 2 small lightweight ramps are stowed in the boot in their own custom case. In the event of an emergency they simply clip into place on either the wheelchair platform or leading edge of the ramp and enable fast safe egress from the vehicle.

The footplate for the seated passenger behind the wheelchair user was always a necessity for the majority of our customers. Previously this was made from metal and although very sturdy, it was rather heavy, and put some people off using it altogether.

To address this problem, we now make and supply the footrest from composite material, as such it is lightweight and very strong, and much nicer to use!
